About the Silicon Valley Energy Map
Welcome to the Silicon Valley Energy Map – your resource for information about energy use, solar and renewable energy, and green buildings in Santa Clara County. We hope you enjoy exploring your area to learn about and become inspired by the efforts people are making in Silicon Valley to implement clean energy. Take advantage of the many resources the map offers to decide what energy efficient or renewable option makes sense for you.

The Silicon Valley Energy Map is a publicly available online tool produced by the Silicon Valley Energy Watch, a partnership between the City of San José and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) serving all of Santa Clara County with energy efficiency outreach. Clean energy is a community effort; the Map is your resource to make it happen!
Why was the map created?
The Silicon Valley Energy Map is the first time that an online site is bringing together, in a single, easy-to-use format, comprehensive information on building energy plus detailed information and resources for next steps to implement clean energy. Silicon Valley is implementing ambitious energy goals, and the Map will help us track our progress, target our efforts, and focus on our next steps. It is a tool for residents, businesses, governments, and community leaders alike.
- The Map enables you to visualize what’s happening in your community regarding building energy use, solar energy, and green building.
- The Map enables us to start the dialogue and ask the right questions about energy in our community, and to see how we can improve.
- The Map gives us a better understanding how to direct our clean energy efforts.
How can I use the map?
- View the overall and per capita energy use in a given city or zip code
- See how many solar installations or green building projects there are in your neighborhood or city
- See how many people or businesses are actively engaged in clean energy in your area
- Track your community’s progress towards clean energy goals
- Find case studies of solar, energy efficiency, and green building projects in your community
- Highlight and share your clean energy experiences, as a resident or a business, with others in your community
- Educate others in your community about energy efficiency and clean energy implementation
- Find the right resources, including tips, rebates, and financial incentives, to get started with clean energy
Get Involved – Submit a Case Study
In order to help us make the Silicon Valley Energy Map as useful as possible for Santa Clara County residents, businesses, and community members, we’re providing testimonials and case studies for solar installations, certified green buildings, and significant energy efficiency projects in the Silicon Valley. Please use the appropriate form below to send us a description of your project. Submit completed form, along with up to two pictures, to svenergymap@sanjoseca.gov, or fax it to (408) 292-6211, attn: Silicon Valley Energy Watch.
